Superstition - Another Social Dilemma

It can be explained that superstition has been a major issue in India, which refers to any belief in  supernatural casualty like one incident causes another without  any  natural process connecting to the second one.It is so common that people still belief that while waking up in the morning if you see oil it will affect your entire day as bad one. It has been noticed that it is genetic as, if an individual grow-up in a family where people are superstitious, then it will definitely affect that individual’s mindset and same thinking process will be theirs as well.

There is a symbolic relation between religious belief and superstition belief Social and economic status of people plays a crucial role in the tendency to superstition so that people with low social and economic status have more tendencies to superstition.
Superstition has given birth to different social issues like sati practice, Lack of girl’s education, Gender inequality at work, dowry system, and female feticide & so on. It takes so much of efforts to make people belief that being superstition, makes things difficult as well as complicated as people have  prior mindset and they are unable to see the other side of any incident.
People need to change their mindset so that society can change and we all can make our country a place where true facts has been considered instead of false beliefs which only effects our country in a wrong way.
Robert Ingersoll well explained superstitions as, believing to phenomenon that there is no experimental evidence for them, estimating a mystery by another mystery; Believing that the world is directed by chance; offering the thoughts, desires and intentions with reference to their original nature; Belief in the supernatural, miracle, magic and divination. According to him, superstition is based on ignorance and its infrastructure and origin are false hopes.

An amazing experience with the city Mumbai

Mumbai can be a pretty amazing city. The people, the sea and the spirit of the city has the ability to en-capture your soul for the rest of your life. My perception about the city changed after I took up a Summer Internship in Mumbai. Before I visited the city, I thought that Mumbai is a congested city with a hell lot of people and narrow lanes, but my perception about the city transformed once I started with my internship in the city. Mumbai is more than just the congestion and the population.  The untiring spirit and the nature of the people make the city, a fascinating place to live.

Individuals from diverse academic backgrounds can find an internship in the city. Mumbai has enterprises belonging to almost all of the work fields. The city has people from all over the country, who work diligently to make a name for themselves. This aspect of Mumbai made me realize that the city has something to offer for everyone. Through the tenure of my Summer Internship in Mumbai, I came across many fascinating aspects of this city. And after finishing my internship with the company, I can say that my stay in Mumbai helped me immensely. It helped me to evolve as a person. The struggle I had to face to survive in the city in terms of accommodation, travel and other aspects made me into a more disciplined, professional and confident person.
One more aspect of the city is that every individual living in Mumbai would agree with, the amazing places that the city has to offer to unwind. After a long and strenuous day at the office, a place to unwind and relax is the best thing to happen. Since Mumbai is also the financial capital of India, therefore, many big shots of the corporate world have made the city as their home. This provides interns like me to interact with eminent personalities from the business world, to learn about professional world and to experience the same. The fast paced life of the city and the professional attitude of the working class inspired me immensely to work more diligently towards my goal. People from all over the country come to the city with dreams in their eyes and many of them make a fortune in Mumbai. Before I came here, I used to think that what the reason is for Mumbai being called as the ‘City of Dreams’. But after my Summer Internship in Mumbai, I have got all my answers.

How I prepared for my first job with an Internship

I had just finished off with my second year of graduation, when my elder brother told me to buckle up for a job. It is because, I have always been that kind of a person, who wants to have fun and completes his assignments just one night before the submission. In short, I have never been the sincere type and the thought of sincerity and responsibilities scared me. But, when I gave a thought to what my brother had said earlier, I got coupled further into a series of thoughts, which made me realise that now was the time to take up a few responsibilities. Hence, I asked my brother to help me with the same and he suggested me to apply for internship programs to prepare myself and also to know my worth and where I stand. He briefed me about various advantages of an internship and then I realised why some juniors in our college were doing internships.

Since I had college to attend, I couldn’t do a regular internship. Therefore, I decided to apply for a summer internship. I browsed through various websites and had gone through with the internship program’s information of over thousands of companies. By the time the summer break arrived, I had given over ten interviews. It was a good feeling to be shortlisted in three out of ten interview sessions. My interviews scared me. It was as if I was being evaluated even by the way I was breathing. Finally my summer internship started and the office felt as if my mother has swept it nice and clean. The moment I entered it felt completely different and one could sense responsibility and pressure amongst the co-workers.

Though the duration of my internship was of one month, it felt like years. But I constantly made myself stronger, fighting against all odds. It made me into a better person, into one who could take up every challenge. It helped me grew into a man and I was not just some irresponsible youngster, instead a young man who was worth to give a chance. After the graduation was over, I was able to grab a job through the placement cell of our college. I would suggest every graduation student to consider internships or even a summer internship, because there is so much to learn from the industry and mentors that would prepare you for a better future, just like it did to me.

Enhance Your Resume with Internship Programs

An extended resume is always a plus point for job seekers and especially for the fresher’s, who have just finished their graduation. Resume is something that indirectly and silently defines the capability of the candidate and his personality. Therefore it is better that university students and even those students, who have just started with their graduation, form a layout of their preparations for extending the resume up to two or more pages. You won’t need to make any high end compromises with your freedom and skip the college fun and parties, you only need to take out one or two weeks from your vacations or you can work from home.

There are several websites that have information of over hundreds of companies, offering internship programs. Either you can look for a summer internship only for your summer break or you can join a virtual internship. You can extend your search amongst the websites and apply for the one that suits your profile. If you get lucky, you may even find a company, offering a stipend to their interns. Well, the candidates who are selected for the internship program after an interview or two are titled as interns. And being an intern is not an easy task, you have to take up certain responsibilities and you also have expectations to deliver.

It is easy to understand that how difficult it is for a youngster to give up vacations, may be that is the reason why few companies organise these summer Internship programs for a span of two or three weeks. Even though the duration of the internship is short, you will get to learn some little-known and significant aspects of your industry. If you join at least two internship programs during  your college vacations, you will have an experience and exposure of working in different work places and conditions. And also, you will develop a confidence to sit for your placement interview or your first job interview.

By the time you have completed your graduation, your resume will have an important section of work experience and about two to three summer internship certificates that will raise the weight of your resume. Make sure that you mention every detail of your internship and your personal experience as well. So go ahead, open your laptops and start the search for internships. And remember, it requires dedication and hard work. As they say, nothing comes easy.

My Learnings From An Internship

Following my plan of working in a company as a trainee, or as an intern was finally put into action, when I had taken up an internship in a start-up company before two months. The total internship period was of two months, and I was selected after undergoing a rigorous selection process, in which there were more than 20 students who were screened. I had done this internship during my summer vacations, and now the final year of my graduation has commenced.

While selecting the internship, I primarily focused on the learnings that I would be able to extract out of the same and not on the money part. Many of my other friends were just looking for a Paid Internship in India, and didn’t prefer the ones which only gave a small amount of stipend. But I, on the other hand was not interested behind just running after the paid summer internship in Delhi, and agreed for doing this internship at just a stipend of Rs. 3,000 per month.

I learned a lot by working in the company in which I took an internship in. My friends also realized that, when they compared my learnings with theirs after the internship period ended. This was the point that they also realized that there is no point in just running after the paid internship, but learning is what counts the most.

As my company for internship in Delhi was a startup company, they didn’t have separate departments or huge teams for handling the various operations of the country. The total strength of the company was of 6 members, and it was these three members, who handled everything. By working with them, I also got a chance to do everything. The team of members led by their dynamic promoter motivated me in all the aspects and also taught me all the things that I was not aware of. Secondly, the challenges that the company was facing as a startup were humongous! Being able to face those challenges required great dedication, will power, commitment and wits. We all were inspired by our leader and by directly working under the promoter (who was also the owner of the company), I was able to not only explore my potential to the fullest, but I was also able to develop the right kind of dynamism along with an improved personality. I would really like to thank the online portal www.makeintern.com, which had actually helped me to get linked up with such a great company. I can surely say that with the kind of an approach they have they certainly have very bright career prospects.
