Clear the Misconceptions That You Have About Internships

The words ‘internships’ and ‘interns’ have suddenly grabbed a lot of attention amongst the youngsters. The attention has developed mainly amongst those who are currently in the college or are about to enter the college phase. Most of you have definitely heard about these terms and many of you might be thinking of applying for internships. Earlier only summer internship was popular as a ‘thing’ amongst the youngsters and on the college notice boards.   But with the passage of time, now even virtual internships and work from home internships are becoming the most preferred choices for internships. There were several misconceptions in the minds for internships and the evolution has proved them all wrong. Few misconceptions have been listed below, which you will find baseless once you have completed with your internship. You would realise that internships are fun and in fact, they are a one of its kind experience.

Internship is all about work
The ‘about work’ part of this sentence is true. It is also worth noting that internship is more than just work. Yes, you need to work hard and keep up to the expectations of the mentors and co workers. But it is actually fun when you all go out for lunch and join in for a co-workers birthday or farewell. You would realise that some of your mentors and co workers have a better sense of humour than you.

You have to give up your whole summer
Most of the students do not look for summer internship because they don’t want to ruin their summer vacations. It might just prove you wrong and in fact you can have the best of both, your vacations as well as internships, in just two months. You can apply for internships, which have duration of one or two weeks. Not all companies offer a complete two months summer internship program. You can even apply for work from home internship to avoid early morning alarms.

You get a burden of college plus office work load

It is important to note that as an intern, there might be a few things that you need to keep a check on, as it is a part of your responsibility. Unlike college, you don’t get home work or assignments during your internship. It is all about the instances at work, which help you to learn. Small things add up to your skill set, like making mental notes instead of on a notebook.

Enhance Your Resume with Internship Programs

An extended resume is always a plus point for job seekers and especially for the fresher’s, who have just finished their graduation. Resume is something that indirectly and silently defines the capability of the candidate and his personality. Therefore it is better that university students and even those students, who have just started with their graduation, form a layout of their preparations for extending the resume up to two or more pages. You won’t need to make any high end compromises with your freedom and skip the college fun and parties, you only need to take out one or two weeks from your vacations or you can work from home.

There are several websites that have information of over hundreds of companies, offering internship programs. Either you can look for a summer internship only for your summer break or you can join a virtual internship. You can extend your search amongst the websites and apply for the one that suits your profile. If you get lucky, you may even find a company, offering a stipend to their interns. Well, the candidates who are selected for the internship program after an interview or two are titled as interns. And being an intern is not an easy task, you have to take up certain responsibilities and you also have expectations to deliver.

It is easy to understand that how difficult it is for a youngster to give up vacations, may be that is the reason why few companies organise these summer Internship programs for a span of two or three weeks. Even though the duration of the internship is short, you will get to learn some little-known and significant aspects of your industry. If you join at least two internship programs during  your college vacations, you will have an experience and exposure of working in different work places and conditions. And also, you will develop a confidence to sit for your placement interview or your first job interview.

By the time you have completed your graduation, your resume will have an important section of work experience and about two to three summer internship certificates that will raise the weight of your resume. Make sure that you mention every detail of your internship and your personal experience as well. So go ahead, open your laptops and start the search for internships. And remember, it requires dedication and hard work. As they say, nothing comes easy.

How I understood the importance of Internship

I am a person who belongs to the party now and work late category. Though I keep my work updated, I usually don’t focus much on what’s next. My first year in graduation was totally about partying and hanging out with friends. I have always managed to score average marks and was satisfied with them. But, when the second year started, things changed and it became difficult to obtain even the passing score. I started to work hard and dedicated my days and nights toward studies. By the time my second year ended, I figured out ways to manage my life and studies. I was happy with my increased scores and the faith that teachers started to place in me. Things were going smooth and my party life was back on track as well.

Everything was more than fine and it was simply perfect. Until one day, when a good friend of mine and also a junior told me that he joined an Internship Program with a company and had been there as an intern since the last summer break. We had a complete two hour discussion. He told me about the projects he did and the skills he learnt and I realised how much I was lacking behind. I have heard about the internships, but never gave a thought about it. It was at this point that I realised that although I was senior to him in college, it was totally opposite in terms of respect to knowledge. He already knew what we were supposed to learn in this year. He told me about that Internship Program and that I could still apply for an internship. I decided that I will find one for myself as soon as possible.

That day, as soon as I reached home I browsed for Internships and came across this website, MakeIntern. I was surprised to know that there were so many companies who had posted for Internship Program. I was awe struck on seeing that there were so many senior students from various colleges including mine, who had been placed in the same companies where they joined as interns. This inspired me and made me more eager to do an internship. I got an internship in a MNC. I had learned more than I deserved by the time I graduated. And to be honest, this really helped me grow and know my worth. Though I was way behind but they say that it is never too late. And I hope you learn from my mistake and get yourself an internship soon.

An internship is basically a job training that you take for your successful career. Generally, internships are taken up by High school students or graduates or post graduates adults. Ultimately, we can say that people who are on the verge of starting their careers opt for Summer Internships. An internship helps a person to develop the required skills and knowledge, which proves to be beneficial in the long term career prospects. Thus, you will generate the required skills in sales and marketing, which will be fruitful for your overall career.

There should be no scope of disparity between what your need is and what the other wants you to do. There are varieties of internship opportunities in India with different durations. Details of duration for internship are generally included in the offer. Duration of internship may be for a quarter, semester or even a year. Choose the Best Option after College

College life is one of the most important parts of our life, but after completing the college, every student suffers with the dilemma of choosing the best option for them to do. I am sure that all the students have got stuck after completing their college, and not many know the way to handle this situation in the right manner. The students have to make a difficult choice. I think that virtually, there are generally three options for these students to select. Some students can choose to pursue higher studies, some of them can choose to do a job and some can find an internship that will teach them to manage all the day to day situations and challenges that arise while doing a job.

The first option is not bad but the second one proves to be a premature one. If any student wants to do a job, then he needs to do an internship first, because without any experience, it will be difficult for him to make it big. I am not saying that it’s a wrong choice, but it’s too early to do a job. Students have to be more matured, if they want to do a job. There is no rule that one can pursue an internship only after completing the college. If students want to do an internship during their studies, they can do it in the period of their vacation or holidays. Some students are wise and they pursue a summer internship, during their summer vacations. These students can then make for a good decision to directly pursue a job after their college, because they get the necessary experience during the summer internship in Delhi pursued by them.

A Summer Internship for MBA Students is like job training, where students get a chance to improve their skills & knowledge and get an experience that will help them to achieve growth in their life. There are so many companies who offer internships to students after their college and they also offer summer internship in Delhi. Students have to choose the one which relates with their field. For example, if I am a student who completed his graduation in B.Com, then I will choose the internships that were related to the commerce field, like that in the financial sector, banking sector etc. Whereas, if a student who has completed his graduation in journalism, should join an internship which relates with the media and communication sectors.

I personally suggest to all the students that if they really want to be a successful person in their life and want a life where they know all the skills to compete with others, they must do an internship. They can find the best internship opportunities by logging into the website of MakeIntern.
