My peers, family and relatives always advised me about the importance of an internship. Though, I paid heed to them but never quite understood the potential and importance of an internship, until recently. After completing my higher secondary, I was confused and couldn’t really choose a field to make my career in. Though I was a social media buff, I never thought of it as a career option. This confusion led me to take up admission in an engineering college. I was not really sure of my decision and decided to take up the course, because engineering is a professional course and it more or less guarantees a job after completion. As per my expectations, I did get a job after completing my course, but soon I realized that I could not garner much interest in my job.
Then one day, I came across an offer for a Virtual Internship with a digital advertising company. This provided me with an opportunity to work in my field of interest without having to leave my job and take any risks. I applied for the internship and got the opportunity. The online internship gave me an opportunity to work from home. This internship helped me to put my digital media skills at work and also upraised me with the fact that digital media is a lucrative career field. The Virtual Internship also helped me a lot to hone my skills. I got to learn a lot about digital advertising through this online internship. The internship created a sense of confidence in me, that I can make a career for myself in the field of digital advertising. Apart from this, I also gained the required experience to take up a job with a reputed advertising agency. During the internship, I got to face the real time work challenges and also learned the different advertising strategies.
After completing my internship with the firm, I took the important decision to quit my engineering job and started searching for a job in the digital advertising field. Soon, I landed up with job in an advertising agency. The experience and the skills gained from the Virtual Internship helped me to sail through the selection process of the agency. Today, I am holding an important position in the agency and am also very satisfied with the job. Therefore, anyone having any apprehensions about online internships can come out of those apprehensions and can take up the internships without any fears.
