Clear the Misconceptions That You Have About Internships

The words ‘internships’ and ‘interns’ have suddenly grabbed a lot of attention amongst the youngsters. The attention has developed mainly amongst those who are currently in the college or are about to enter the college phase. Most of you have definitely heard about these terms and many of you might be thinking of applying for internships. Earlier only summer internship was popular as a ‘thing’ amongst the youngsters and on the college notice boards.   But with the passage of time, now even virtual internships and work from home internships are becoming the most preferred choices for internships. There were several misconceptions in the minds for internships and the evolution has proved them all wrong. Few misconceptions have been listed below, which you will find baseless once you have completed with your internship. You would realise that internships are fun and in fact, they are a one of its kind experience.

Internship is all about work
The ‘about work’ part of this sentence is true. It is also worth noting that internship is more than just work. Yes, you need to work hard and keep up to the expectations of the mentors and co workers. But it is actually fun when you all go out for lunch and join in for a co-workers birthday or farewell. You would realise that some of your mentors and co workers have a better sense of humour than you.

You have to give up your whole summer
Most of the students do not look for summer internship because they don’t want to ruin their summer vacations. It might just prove you wrong and in fact you can have the best of both, your vacations as well as internships, in just two months. You can apply for internships, which have duration of one or two weeks. Not all companies offer a complete two months summer internship program. You can even apply for work from home internship to avoid early morning alarms.

You get a burden of college plus office work load

It is important to note that as an intern, there might be a few things that you need to keep a check on, as it is a part of your responsibility. Unlike college, you don’t get home work or assignments during your internship. It is all about the instances at work, which help you to learn. Small things add up to your skill set, like making mental notes instead of on a notebook.
